Through the Forest

Ace Cruz, a student from Art Institute of Orange County, shared his GoPro experience with us!

See what else he has to say about his camera!

Where is this footage from?

“I shot this footage when I went zip lining in the Philippines. I was in Puerto Princessa, Palawan.”

What do you like about gopro?

“I like its technical capabilities and durability. I like how you can put a lot of attachments on it. It’s very versatile, you can basically put it anywhere. Another plus is that it’s waterproof and shockproof.”

Whats the reason why you got a gopro?

“I was attracted to its wide angle lens that gives a accurate human eye perspective so that when you watch it, it’s like you are actually experiencing the footage you’re watching. I like its slow motion capabilities. I’m about to nerd out a little bit, but I like how it can also shoot HD quality video at 60 frames per second. Most consumer rated cameras cannot do that.”

Any problems?

“The casing of the circular lens cover fogs up when you submerge it underwater. So when I recorded, I got a weird haze. But I read up on the Hero 3 and they retracted the lens which fixes the problem”

Where and when do you use your GoPro?

“Any extreme sports. Now I can use it regularly when shooting things as a hobby. I like the effect. I can use it as an everyday camera since it’s so portable. I practically use it any time, any where. I even use it when I’m just bored.”

Did the gopro meet your expectations?

“For footage to come out like how the company looks like it on commericals, you must shoot at optimal conditions. It has to be perfect weather to get all the bold colors you see on t.v. Shooting at a  2.8 aperture doesn’t necessarily yield High Definition, but shooting in good sunlight will make footage more vivid and clear. You’ll notice what I’m talking about if you watch the The dubstep baby GoPro commercial. It looks totally different from the extreme sports commercials.”

GoPro Introduces the HD Hero 2

The already popular Hero line of cameras just go a whole lot better with the introduction of the latest and greatest Hero 2 HD Camera. The Hero 2 camera boasts twice the power of its former model. This means the image is twice as sharp, has twice as many megapixels, double the frames per second, half the lapse time and a whopping 1080p resolution! And luckily, it will not cost you double the price.

Here are the standard accessories. As with the older model, the adhesive clips cling to anything with vigor; because of this you have to be committed to whatever you are sticking it to. If you want to film your friend snowboarding, pray that she doesn’t mind you slapping one of these on her board, as it’ll be there almost permanently.
